Protecting and Expanding Student Services

For more than a hundred years students on this campus have provided each other with support and services that enhance our education. We will protect and expand access to ASUO-funded services such as LTD bus passes, football tickets, and student parent services. We will always fight to represent students on campus, in Salem, and in Washington DC – and we will fund the organizations that gives students a voice, like the Oregon Student Association and OSPIRG.

Making Education More Affordable

We believe that education is a right. We will fight for higher education that is affordable, accessible and public. We oppose the New Partnership, the University’s plan to separate itself from the state. We will work for better reforms to our university system, ways to make textbooks more affordable, better access to off-campus housing and we will advocate for increased financial aid.

Creating a Safe and Sustainable Campus

We are proud that our campus is a safe, green place where all people can be valued and welcomed. As student leaders we strive to leave this university better than we found it. That means keeping guns and Tasers off of our campus by opposing a the creation of a campus police force. It means making campus safer with more outdoor lighting and emergency call boxes. It means standing against reckless development of our riverfront and increasing our bike parking. As students we are not opposed to progress—we support sensible changes that adhere to the progressive values of our community and our generation.
